    Cabbage

I recently found a recipe for "lazy cabbage rolls", and now we have it 2 - 3 times a month! Lazy Cabbage Rolls 1 1/2 to 2 pounds lean ground beef or turkey 1 tablespoon oil 1 large onion, chopped 6 cloves garlic, minced 1 small cabbage, chopped 2 cans (14.5 ounces each) diced tomatoes 1...

I recently tried this with red cabbage, it was soooo good!

    Ebola

Not only that, but yesterday I caught the press conference coverage where there was a standing ovation for the now recovered doctor in New York city, who was previously vilified for going about his business in the city although following temperature check protocols. No further cases in New...

    What's your favorite potato dish/

I don't know that there is a bad potato dish conceptually...only ones that have been poorly executed. My favorite...homemade pierogies, boiled, then fried in butter, served with sour cream and carmelized onions. Little pillowy clouds of potato goodness. Mrs T's is a poor substitute.

    Flying Fat

I have flown United a lot, at different sizes, ...usually the Airbus 320 model, and if you wear a 26 pants, you'll fit with a seatbelt extender. Not exactly comfortable, but certainly doable. However, if you can swing it, do their "Economy Plus" seating, you get an extra 4" of pitch between...

    the murder of michael brown

I'm a little confused. A week ago Friday, I happened to be watching CNN, and watched the Ferguson Chief of Police state, in a press conference, that the officer who shot Michael Brown was not aware of the robbery at the time of the shooting, that he found out about that afterwards. He was...

Dr. Oz gets a grilled by Senate

"wouldn't pass scientific muster".... wow. just wow.

Slavery would have died a natural death?

Yes, and Congress unanimously agreed to adjust the federal minimum wage to reflect inflation as well. Cause you know that those in power are primarily interested in bettering the plight of their fellow citizens.

Good for you Loopy, that definitely is a victory! No one can raise anxiety faster or higher than a mother, in my experience.

    Bowe Bergdahl; hero or deserter

I am going to guess that there is more to this story that we do not know, and most likely will never know. I doubt this president (or any president) would stick out his neck for this guy if he was so definitely a deserter.

    affirmative action

I'd bet that "the blacks" from your area would have a slightly different take on that.

    leftovers

Exactly!!! For me it is fun too....but I totally get that it isn't for everyone. This week I roasted off 2 big pans of chicken thighs and legs (@99 cents/pound). Ate once as is with yellow rice and beans. Then I deboned and rough chopped the leftover chicken, which then became pasta...

    General Anxiety Thread

All the time :). For seemingly simple things, like going to the market. Over the years, I try my best to just put myself on "automatic", and not entertain internal discussions about said activity, because they are stress inducing. Helps me to make lists of tasks, and then just follow...

    leftovers

Well, the truth is, for me, I find cooking and baking relaxing, it's relieves stress....and the budget thing makes it more like a game to me, like I'm competing on Top Chef or something...lol. If one doesn't enjoy cooking, I wouldn't recommend it, it is a lot of extra work!

    leftovers

It is my personal challenge to throw away as little food as possible. Like Dr. Feelgood, I loosely plan my weeks menu for what I call "roll-over" ingredients. I also freeze lots of "bits and pieces" to be included in with a future dish. I have a bag in the freezer for chicken carcasses to...

    General Anxiety Thread

In the last 10 years or so I have experienced anxiety attacks. There was one year that was really pretty bad, and driving was very difficult. I did develop a fear of driving over a bridge, which continues to this day. I can do it now, but damn, it's not easy...heart races, sweaty palms...

Indeed. It's a shame that these options are not given as much respect as they deserve.
