    Chatroom...

I believe that's been done and tried. As well as other individual efforts by Dimensions community members to chat on some system. Anything official, though, I want to run on our own server.

    Chatroom...

It remains a vexing issue. I so wish I could have simply kept the old streaming chat, which was just right. But since it was compiled and the author had long moved on to different projects, there was no way to keep it running. Ticked me off, actually, as I had paid a rather high price for that...

The last movie you watched... and score out of ten - Part 2

Riddick -- 4 of 10, if that. I really like Vin Diesel. He has this terrific voice and presence and I enjoy watching him perform in almost any movie. But this new Riddick movie just didn't have it. It was terrible, and I can see why even Diesel couldn't make it a success at the box office.

    Finding Employment

I've been doing my own thing for well over 20 years. I've worked for employers and done the whole corporate career stuff, but I much prefer being my own boss. Computers and the internet have made available the tools to research, write, contact, create and sell a myriad of different things...

    Raclette

Yes, that YouTube visual is the real thing with real Swiss people. Note that with Raclette you generally have small boiled potatoes, cornichons (available at TJ's), white wine, and special Raclette or Fondue spices. Whatever other vegetables or thinly sliced meats you have with it are...

    Fashion.... and fashion gripes

I do recall how, way back when in High School, if you didn't wear the latest, coolest stuff you might as well stay in bed and not show up at all. To wear fashionable gear meant you got it, you had style, you made a statement, even if the statement was to wear the exact opposite. I recall how at...

    Raclette

Not sure how many of you are familiar with Raclette. It's a Swiss thing, right next to Fondue. While you prepare a Foundue with a mixture of Swiss cheeses and other ingredients in a pot and then bring it to a very gentle boil so the gathered assembly can dunk their pieces of bread at the end...

    did i post something here?

You may have noticed that Dimensions is spam-free. That doesn't just happen. In the background we have a number of defenses that guard against spam through various ways. That has been working remarkably well (and still eats up a bunch of my time every day), but occasionally posts by new members...

The last movie you watched... and score out of ten - Part 2

Noah -- 8 of 10. A big challenge to make the biblical tale of Noah's ark into a movie, and it could easily have been a corny disaster. But thanks to excellent acting by Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Emma Watson et al, and some added plot twists, the movie is actually very enjoyable and at...

My fellow video game nerds, whatcha been playing? Part 2

One thing I don't understand is why Microsoft bundled the Kinetics with the Xbox One, thus coming in at a much higher price than the PS4. If the Kinetics were essential to using the Xbox One, it'd make sense, but it isn't essential. In fact, while I use the voice commands occasionally ("Xbox on...

    The daily exercise report thread!!

Carol took up a "Couch-to-5K" program where she has this app on her iPhone that tells when to walk, when to run, how far, how long, and so on and so on. She recruited some girlfriends to go with her, and it's amazing how much stamina she's built between this, Zumba, and our frequent long walks.

The last movie you watched... and score out of ten - Part 2

"Ender's Game" -- 7.5 of 10. Based on a book series. The concept is that kids with their young reflexes, quick minds, mastery of technology, and knowing no boundaries will be in charge of earth's warfare and defenses, learning via games and simulations. I had read the book, which was quite...

The last movie you watched... and score out of ten - Part 2

All is Lost: 8.5 out of 10. Old dude (terrifically played by a surprisingly aged Robert Redford) on a solo ocean trip on his sailboat, gets hit by an errant container, fighting to survive. Excellent performance by Redford, who's the sole actor in the movie, no dialog at all. Great production...

    Vol-au-vent available anywhere?

I'd been under the weather for several days this past weekend, but then Carol made this wonderful birthday dinner that I had asked her for. Vol-au-vents! Only problem was that she was unable to find any normal, full-sized vol-au-vents anywhere and eventually had to settle for those little...

Fat soccer fans get special seats at 2014 World Cup

According to a report in Bloomberg, fat soccer fans will get special extra-wide seats at the 2014 World Cup that'll take place in Brazil later this year. The seats are twice as wide, and fans need a certificate that proves a BMI of 30 or more. They'll even get a free second ticket for a friend...

The last movie you watched... and score out of ten - Part 2

Watched the Lord of the Rings trilogy again over the weekend. Extended addition. Loved it all over again, and it's aging well. As an additional benefit, it's now been several years since I last read the books, and so I wasn't nearly as bothered by Jackson's creative deviations than I was when...

Carol snapping a triple-selfie after my birthday breakfast this morning.... with my son Morgan making silly faces and I unpacking my new Nikon AW110 GPS camera that can go 60 feet underwater without a housing.
