One SEAL, one Osprey, and an 8-year-old girl.

One dead SEAL, one destroyed Osprey and a dead 8-year old girl does make me feel kind of sick, but how anyone could see that as winning is alien to me.

Marine Le Pen and the Political Climate of France

I thought the Russian loan had fallen through and that in any case FN party funding wasn't just for her but for legislative candidates as well. She keeps popping up in my newsfeeds as not being able to get funding.

Marine Le Pen and the Political Climate of France

LePen is riding the Brexit/Trump populist/nationalist wave. She's leading in the polls with basically no funding, it's quite remarkable. She could be heralding a Frexit.

    Diplomacy!

Trump tried to finagle his way out of a bad deal Obama set up. He should just call Trudeau next, I'm sure he'll take the refugees.

    Chrissy Metz!

Of course Ned saw her coming back in 2007. I have to watch "This is Us" every week to get my dose of this hotty.

    well, that sucks.

Trump is a businessman and therefore a pragmatist, I think he sees Syria as a losing proposition. I don't think it's appeasement to let Russia look after it's own self-interests in it's own backyard, especially given the track record of the complications arising after ousting Hussein and...

    well, that sucks.

I think Clinton would have entered into a game of brinksmanship with Russia over Syria. I think Trump is more isolationist and will just let Russia do what it wants over there. To the big players it's about oil wealth, and personally I'd rather Russia have it than ISIS. A wake-up call to NATO...

    well, that sucks.

Believe it or not there's a subset of them who believe in pre-Christian Norse stuff. Freya worshipers. This is something I've taken an interest in and read up on in a lot of forums. From what I can tell self-proclaimed "white nationalists" run the gamut from people who are simply white...

    well, that sucks.

I truly believe Clinton would have had us much closer to midnight.

Regressives Taking Their Ball and Going Home

Actually, no. The people who should be worried about political correctness are the people who bought into it so whole-heartedly that they dismiss anyone who doesn't buy into the party line 100 percent as racists and bullies. I see politically correct arguments everywhere and they are almost...

You Know You Love 'Em - Political Pics and Jokes Thread Reloaded!

I'd put Mango on the bottom left of the politcal compass, I'd probably put BDM on the bottom right. I'd guess you'd fall in the top left quadrant, but you're effectively top right like most everyone else because that's where the mainstream candidates always are. If you're wondering I always...

Harriet Tubman on the $20 Bill

    Agreed. Her story is inspiring.

Harriet Tubman on the $20 Bill

No they aren't the same parties. I don't see anyone disputing that. Yet everything written on that image is true. Even with all the changes and seeming switching of platforms between the two major parties I think today's Republican party is closer ideologically to Harriet Tubman's Republican...

Harriet Tubman on the $20 Bill

I'm in a debate group on Facebook and somebody posted this image. I thought it was cool because it's true. Obviously a lot of people will look at it and say it ludicrously suggests that Harriet Tubman would approve of the Republican party today or whatever. But the fact is that the National...

Government urged to tax fat people

You 2 are talking about 2 different things. Yearly costs are more for working age obese, but lifetime costs are higher for the long-lived (who for the most part aren't obese.)

    Why I Want a Gun

National statistics are useful for predicting future national statistics. They are useless for predicting individual outcomes. She's in Massachusetts, she's required to take a state-sanctioned course to even apply for a concealed carry license. Her local police chief can deny her permit for...

The Terrorists You Really Need To Fear

Using the article's numbers if you move the start date back one day the right wing extremist death total is 48 and the Islamic Jihadist total is 3024. 3024 to 48, a 6200.00 percent difference.

    Big Improvements Under Obama's Watch

The Authoritarian/Libertarian spectrum is more important to me than the left/right spectrum. The Democratic and Republican parties are both very very authoritarian judging by their actions. Greens and Libertarians don't have a lot of real world actions to judge by, but their platforms are both...

    Big Improvements Under Obama's Watch

In my case it's disillusionment with major 2 parties which is why I always vote for the Libertarian or Green candidate when I can. Though typically I do vote in Democratic primaries for whomever I perceive to be the weaker candidate. I'm engaged in a tilting at windmills kind if way.
