Other countries have been doing second best (or worse) for years now and they are still around.

    Glenn Beck website FAIL

Yeah Google News is awesome. Not only is it a top notch news aggregator but its convenient to use and has cool options like e-mail alerts when news articles it aggregates have keyword hits.

    F-35 White elephant

What about the V-22 justifies the spending of over 50 billion in the end to have less than 500 of these aircrafts in service that have shown repeated problems with battle readiness rate? And even more so than that, what hole in capabilities does this fulfill that we so desperately needed? I...

    Glenn Beck website FAIL

The Daily Show truly is one of the best news shows out there. Like yourself I have similar methods of getting my news. I just use google's news aggregator to find topics of interest and read them regardless of what political lean they may have. It's trivial to separate the partisan spin or...

    F-35 White elephant

I agree, and this is, as you said, something we do over and over again. Another good example to add to the list of costly endeavors that do not provide near the benefit of the cost is the V-22 Osprey. Billions and billions have been used up by this project that started in the 80s and the...

    Arizona Just the Latest

Don't worry, I know it is easy to doubt yourself when he completely ignores everything you say and just throws out non-stop red herrings, but take it from someone else: Yes, he does look as foolish, with his non-sense posts, to everyone else on the board, even if he fails to ever admit it.

Apparently, Bill O'Reilly doesn't understand how tides work

Wonderful link. I enjoyed reading their wiki page that anecdotally refutes everything from earth's gravity to our history of space travel. It makes me wonder how supposed physicist with PhDs support something like this when it can be proven false by going outside and shoving a stick in the...

I'm glad somebody actually gets it.

Apparently, Bill O'Reilly doesn't understand how tides work

yes that is correct, it can be applied because now you are claiming that unicorn is something outside of the observable natural world. hopefully, you are beginning to understand that science is more interested in what it can prove rather than what it can not. if not you are welcome to go ask...

Apparently, Bill O'Reilly doesn't understand how tides work

I think the biggest differentiator that people have difficulty grasping between agnostic atheism and well anything else is that to not deny believing in a particular deity does not mean believing in that deity either. As illustrated in this thread many people seemed to be outright confused by...

Apparently, Bill O'Reilly doesn't understand how tides work

Fairies and Unicorns aren't exactly deities now are they? Also being unwilling to deny that something exists is not the same as believing in it (i.e. no i do not believe in fairies or unicorns, just as i do not believe in Zeus and i do not believe in God, etc). Your questions indicate that...

Apparently, Bill O'Reilly doesn't understand how tides work

I won't deny it no. I find it highly unlikely that Zeus or any deity does exist, but I have no methodology to test this hypothesis (neither does anyone else) so I will not make the statement that it simply doesn't exist because I find it to be unlikely.

Apparently, Bill O'Reilly doesn't understand how tides work

For the sake of clarity, I mean atheism is the belief in no god, so not nihilism. I felt I was clear that I was referring to a disbelief in deities (and not "nothing"), but if that was not the case you know now that indeed I was indicating that atheism is a disbelief in deities, which in the...

Apparently, Bill O'Reilly doesn't understand how tides work

They probably would, and I wouldn't try to discourage people in casual conversation (because I try to respect those around with different belief systems), but it isn't empirical evidence (yes it is observable but what is observed can not be replicated and is dependent on the observer). There is...

Apparently, Bill O'Reilly doesn't understand how tides work

You misunderstood my post,so I will explain it again for you in the case you will not re-read it: The original comment I replied to by Fish was him stating that religions that believe in god(s) and atheism are different in that religions do not have empirical evidence to back them up while...
  19. adolan55

Apparently, Bill O'Reilly doesn't understand how tides work

Actually both are based upon belief considering that just as faith has not presented empirical evidence to prove god(s), science is unable to provide empirical evidence against god(s). Therefore atheism and religions that believe in a higher deity are both belief systems. Agnosticism...

Millionaires Asking For The Bush Tax Cuts To Expire

No they shouldn't "put their money where their mouth is first". They should do the same thing that someone does when they want taxes to be lowered/raised, which is vote accordingly. They aren't hypocrites. They believe the ENTIRETY of an income level should pay more because it will help this...
