What Are You Listening To? Redux

Moby - Extreme Ways, God Moving Over the Face of the Waters, etc. Tomorrow night it will be everything I can find by Adele, just because littlefairywren gave me the idea. ;)

What Are You Happy About Today? Part 2

I'm happy for a few reasons... I saw my family for the first time since my brother got married, and we spent a lot of time visiting them during the Christmas holiday. Lots of food, and I didn't drive so I got comfortably numb! The mystery machine (my 10year old minivan with 182k miles)...

    Happy Birthday, lovely lady!!

Why am I here? Who is that old lady looking at me?

M2M, I have a long list of reasons a more experienced lady would be preferable, but it's in my file cabinet 600 miles away. I'll be sharing it here in the next week or so; hopefully it brings a smile to everyone who reads it. Also, we have a saying in the service: snitches get stitches...

Childhood memories from the 40 somethings

Or start videotaping... Wait a minute. No one uses videotape anymore...maybe people would use smartphones to do something dumb, like upload it to youtube when the actual shooting starts. Pretty sad, since we would never have done any of these things in my childhood, regardless of how bad...

Why am I here? Who is that old lady looking at me?

If you still need a steady hand for the wheel, I'll volunteer my services; nearly 20 years in the navy, and I can get nautical charts, too. I'm not too keen on the bushmeat idea, though; isn't that where plagues are known to be waiting for us to ingest and pass on to the rest of society? I'd...

Childhood memories from the 40 somethings

I remember one, too! Eenie meenie minie moe, Catch a tiger by the toe, If he hollers, let him go, Eenie meenie minie moe. Out goes the rat, Out goes the cat; Out goes the lady with the See saw hat! I admit, when I first read 'if the train jumps off the track' my brain automatically...

Childhood memories from the 40 somethings

This thread is bringing back tons of memories from years ago... I remember the metal lunchboxes, with a thermos for folks like mine who weren't big on comparatively expensive cans of soft drinks. There was usually a tuna fish or pb&j sandwich in my lunchbox, with a piece of fruit or something...

Childhood memories from the 40 somethings

This makes me remember the metal Tonka trucks they used to make until someone decided they were either dangerous or not cost effective, one of the two. I saw a few plastic ones in the store not too long ago, and I wonder if the safe toys available today afford children the luxury of avoiding...

    Dimm's Miseltoe Spot

I think we're going to need more mistletoe. There's not enough room for everyone if Hozay and Rellis are going to perform for spectators. :D

    DEXTER anyone?

I am so hopelessly hooked on Dexter. His calm demeanor as the subject wakes up in a darkened room coated in plastic sheets, finds himself securely bound and starts to panic...it's just hilarious! There is no secret regarding what brought him to the table, or what will happen next...

    Happy Birthday, Captain Save!

I got up late, spent four hours at the auto repair shop; spent 6 hours driving to Baltimore and back picking up my daughter from school, and when I put my feet up and hit my favorite site I get the best present I've had in a long time! That cake really does look and sound DEE-LISH! Everybody...

What Are You EATING right now?

Maybe a single spoonful wouldn't hurt? I know I shouldn't be baiting you, but my intentions aren't really bad, just full of mischief. ;)

What Are You EATING right now?

HaagenDaaz "5," lemon flavored ice cream. I can die happy.

What's on the dinner table tonight?

At least not until smoke from the skillet prompts a visit from Fire Marshall Bill; I'd have to implement plan B (a restaurant, a nice one for a lovely lady!)

Childhood memories from the 40 somethings

Last two, I promise! The tv remote was a child who happened to be in the room when an adult wanted the channel changed. Saturday Night Live; so good, so funny, and so forbidden for those who had to go to Sunday school the following morning.

Childhood memories from the 40 somethings

I have a few to share... Cell phones were for rich people who got arrested. Video games were found in public places and had slots to accept your quarters. Large tv sets required at least two or three grown men to move them. The net was used to catch wild animals...or bad guys on tv...

What's on the dinner table tonight?

So far, it's espresso, chocolate, and mixed nuts. I'm sure something more substantial will develop in time; the night is still young.
