Anti-Vaccine Activists Put Community at Risk

Off topic, but omg YES! My mom is constantly bombarding me with "granny spam", makes me crazy! "but why would they go to the trouble of writing the email if it isn't true?" aggh!

Anti-Vaccine Activists Put Community at Risk

True that. Sometimes it is very difficult to know who to trust, unfortunately. As someone pointed out earlier, even the FDA isn't squeaky clean.

Anti-Vaccine Activists Put Community at Risk

The whole thing reminds me of the "fat equals diabetes" debate.

Anti-Vaccine Activists Put Community at Risk

yikes, it never ends, right? "They" keep insisting that vaccines don't cause autism, but until "they" come up with the actual cause of autism (presumably other other than vaccinations), there are going to be a lot of parents who will be anti vaccine.

Anti-Vaccine Activists Put Community at Risk

Could well have been, but they've stopped using mercury quite awhile ago, and yet the autism growth rate persists. I'm afraid that until they figure out what really causes autism, there are going to be a lot of issues with anti-vaccine parents, because there appears to be a correlation...

Anti-Vaccine Activists Put Community at Risk

Yup, I agree with you. But tell that to the masses. Fear makes them irrational.

Anti-Vaccine Activists Put Community at Risk

Well, if someone could explain why autism rates have exploded in the last 20 - 30 years or whatever, I'm sure you'd have a lot fewer parents freaked out over vaccines. People do have the capacity to become irrational when their childrens well being is at stake. Furthermore, I've noticed that...

    Missing the Weight

My point...to clarify, I felt varying degrees of visibility from place to place, not invisible in all of them. I'm also pretty dang sure of myself and my presence... I don't think I've every felt completely invisible, but there is no doubt in my mind that certain places are less permeable than...

    Missing the Weight

lol...oh, it's fairly predictable. But the bottom of the list for me have been Denver, Calgary, Salt Lake City...something about that Rocky Mountain sporty athletic vibe that makes fat people invisible I guess.

    Missing the Weight

Re: invisibility. I think that not only is it dependent on individuals and their "vibe", it is also a function of where they are. I notice a distinct "visibility" difference just walking through the various airports of LA, Portland, Denver, JFK, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Toronto, Calgary, and I...

New York's New Loony Left Mayor

By the by, I happened to catch a segment on this issue on the local Sunday morning talk shows. Carriage driver was proudly showing a reporter around the stables where the horses are kept. The horses are kept in an 8' x 10' stall, and they get "an annual vacation". There was no paddock of...

    Fat Law of Attraction?

I share much of your skepticism, YoJoshua, particularly in regards to the "self as center of the universe" concept. New Age has also done some damage in my circle (as has religion, to be fair). However, I do believe that both optimism and visualization of goals are a more pleasant way to...

    Fat Celebrity Fashionistas

Totally agree...I didn't even think about that, i got so hung up on that nasty gray fabric. Btw, I would bet that Gaboureys dress probably looked great in real life...it just didn't photograph very well, light colors are always problematic under the lights.

    Fat Celebrity Fashionistas

You know, the actual style of Melissa's dress isn't so bad....it actually fits her very well, I just object to the contrasting color/fabric ---- it looks like an old ratty swiffer mop cloth after cleaning up from some kindergarten glitter art class. Would have been so much better if it were a...

New York's New Loony Left Mayor

I grew up in a rural (heck, almost wilderness) area with horses, horses that worked plowing fields, herding cattle, pulling sleighs, etc. I now visit Manhattan a few times a year. All I can say is, I've yet to see a carriage horse in Manhattan that looks happy and content, like the horses...
