What a Female, Overweight Dr. Thinks of BBW/SBBW Women ~ I'm Furious!!!

Sounds to me like an intense case of self-hatred projected, unfortunately, onto YOU. I do hope you can find a better doctor soon. This woman does your health NO good, no matter what your weight might be!

    Torrid features Gabourey Sidibe

This beautiful young woman is also pictured in the December issue of "Vanity Fair".....the one with Robert Pattinson on the cover. Not one snide remark about her weight or size.....

R.I.P Carol Jean Schoenrock (Miss Piggy Sue)

I will miss her terribly. Miss P.S. was a very special lady. A beautiful woman, inside AND out. May she rest in peace.

    leggings, thumbs up or down?

I LOVE leggings! My poor legs are so deformed now from repeated bouts of erysipelas and the resulting lymphedema, that they appear quite a mess. Leggings provide support, warmth and coverage, and I think they look really cool, too! They're affordable, easy to care for, versatile and comfortable...

    What are you reading?

just finished three books by Ruth Moore about life in Maine. Also, The Reader. All good reads. Now rereading Cherie and Fin de Cherie; was inspired to pull them out again after hearing a movie is coming out soon based on them. (which I'm looking forward to!) Also Alice Hoffman's Green Angel...

    A Warm Remembrance of Lexi

Ah, may lovely Lexi rest in peace. She is missed.....and Ned, Katy had one more wonderful resource you didn't mention: her husband. In my book, he's a pretty special kind of guy.....

How do you like your burgers?

Not too thick, a little pink in the middle, lean but not TOO lean meat, with cheddar/American cheese and bacon or swiss and mushrooms. If the bun has sesame seeds on it, that's a bonus. If no bacon or 'rooms, a little ketchup. Pickles on the side and NO mustard, are you kidding??

Sweet Potato-how do you eat yours?

Baked in the oven (preferably with a turkey or ham) split open, with lots of butter on it. Keepin' it simple......

Our Community Loss - Cindy G.

.....and what a loss for all of us here. It's going a take a bit for me to be able to realize she is actually gone. A lovely woman in every sense of the word. Heaven has a new angel today.....and we are bereft. Rest in Peace, dear Cindy.

    Watcha doin on Easter?

We usually have a ham dinner on Easter, but we're taking a slightly different route this year and cooking pot roast! A nice big hunka beef with potatoes, carrots, and onions. A loaf of Panera's bread with butter to go with, a tossed salad, and cheesecakes for dessert. Although I'm nearing 60 and...

What helps when you can't eat?

What has always worked for me is watermelon! Cold cubes of watermelon to suck on and gently chew up and swallow. This gives fluid and sugar to a depleted system, and I have found it goes down VERY easily. Must be cold though! Room temp doesn't cut it. Let me know if this helps you at all......

    Sanctuarie Alteration problems?

I've ordered lots of things from Sanctuarie over the past few years, and I like them, but one thing I've noticed is I have to go up at least one size higher than their measurements would seem to dictate, and up in length as well. I am 5'5, and anywhere else a dress 53" long would touch the tops...

    Easter Foods 2009

My husband and I are squabbling over what to have for Easter dinner. I, the voice of tradition in the family, want ham, mashed potatoes, rolls, salad.....the usual conventional dinner. My husband wants to make lasagna. Now, I love lasagna, and he makes a really good one, but it just doesn't...

What is your highest adult weight?

My highest weight is my current weight, just under 450lbs. at 5'5. At almost 59, it's a lot to carry, but while I certainly didn't TRY to get up to this weight, I'm not exactly doing anything extreme to change it, either......

    Bela Lugosi's dead...

There was nobody, absolutely nobody, like Bela Lugosi. He was, and is, a true original. I became fascinated by him at the age of 13. At 58, my interest hasn't flagged a bit! I have read everything I could ever lay my hands on that treated of Lugosi, and of course have DVD biographies as well as...

The Straight But Not Narrow Thread

Just one more reason why Dims is the COOLEST place.....my hearty congrats and support to all of you, and enjoy!!! (tossing some nice warm throws into the new GLBTQ living room, cause after all, it's pretty cold outside, and you can snuggle while you're in here.......)

    Foods you will NEVER try.

WAY too many to list, most of them involving meat or some form of animal protein. As I age, I find myself increasingly squeamish where meat is concerned. (Having kidney disease seems to have exacerbated this for me.) So is it's not chicken, turkey, beef or pork, forget it! it doesn't get past...

    If Money Were No Object........

I would have practically every item on the Dark Angel (uk) site custom made for me! Those coats, the gowns, etc. I would LIVE in those things. Also, custom made goth boots that would be super comfortable and fit my lymphedemic misshapen left foot perfectly! Oh, and I'd be dripping in colored...

    Godiva...what is the big deal?

.....I could never see the big deal with Godiva's either. I tried them several times and each time ended up thinking, what's the big deal? Among some of my teacher acquaintances they were made much of, but I'm convinced it was a snob thing. (Some teachers are terrible snobs!) Give me Lindt...

    Christmas Dinner

Christmas Eve will just be hubby and me this year. Since my dad died, none of us seem to have the motivation to put on the big Christmas Eve parties we threw of old. So, we're just having nachos we'll make ourselves, and a bowl of shrimp. Nothing sweet at this meal, but hey, it's not like we're...
