This is horrific... and I'll be shocked if anything comes of this other than "what a tragedy".

An 11-year-old student remains in intensive care after he was allegedly bullied at Brickett Elementary School. Mathew Mumbauer is on a ventilator at Massachusetts General Hospital, and is paralyzed from the chest down after his mother said he was bullied at school.
"He's a big kid and people make fun of him," said Alissa Cormier, his mother.
Cormier said his dad and a special education teacher had to carry Mathew out of the school on March 10 because he could not walk. He was driven to the hospital where he told the nurse what happened.
"A kid pushed him down the stairs," said Cormier.
Mathew allegedly told teachers he felt numbness in his legs, but they told him they were just falling asleep.
He was released from the hospital that day, but two days later rushed back and diagnosed with a spinal cord injury and pneumonia.
"We don't have any evidence that this boys injuries are related to anything that occurred during the school day of march 10th. Our thoughts go out to the family and to the young man in hopes that his recovery is complete," said Nicholas Kostan, the school's superintendent in a statement.
Police are investigating.
