Officers reached the suspect by phone and he told officers that the sign at the pump said "24 hours pay at pump" and that he thought he had 24 hours to pay for the gas. The officer told the 20-year-old man that he had 15 minutes to return to the station and pay for the gas. The man returned within 10 minutes and paid.
