A Day in the Life... A short play wot I wrote, relating an incident this week
Cast: One SSBBW and One Thirtysomething smug woman working the Till
Location: The Checkout queue at the Supermarket
Action: The SSBBW is unloading her basket. It contains a mountain of various salad items, diet Pepsi, lots of fresh fruit and two chocolate muffins
Smug Woman: Lovely fruit! You know, you should eat more fruit!
SSBBW: Why?
Smug Woman: Because fresh fruit is good for you!
SSBBW: Really?
Smug Woman: Oh yes, it's full of vitamins and minerals and very good for you.
SSBBW: I never knew that! Wow. You think there would be something about it in the papers! Or maybe on Television?
Smug Woman starts to look less smug and slightly embarrassed.
SSBBW: (Getting animated) Maybe they should print stuff like that in magazines.
Smug Woman is looking horrified and glancing about, presumably looking for a safe exit.
SSBBW: (Even more forcefully, and louder) Or, hey, this is a great idea, maybe if thats good for you the medical professions should get involved and start telling people. And the government!
Smug Woman: (Mumbles) I was only trying to help
SSBBW: Really? Because it seemed to me you were being rude and very patronizing. Maybe you should mind your own business?
SSBBW waddles off into the sunset.
THE END
Ok, so I have slightly over-dramatized this event but the script pretty much played out as above. I'm posting this in The Lounge as I hope it'll make you smile - it made me laugh all the way home
