Well, as Dimensions supporters you not only have the key to this august Clubhouse, you also get to hear more of my thoughts and contemplations, whether you like it or not.
Anyway, after giving it a lot of thought I decided to add a forum that I named "Hyde Park," after the (in)famous "Speakers' Corner" in London's Hyde Park. The Speakers' Corner is a place where people can get on a soap box and pontificate to their heart's content. So I decided to add that forum as a place for ornery threads and asked the ops to move the recent influx of such threads over there. That way, I hope, the main board will be restored to the discussion of size issues rather than unbecoming behavior. It is, of course, possible that some folks may not understand that certain debate needs to take place in Hyde Park as opposed to the main board. For such resistant cases we created a new user group that will gently direct them to Hyde Park while making most other places invisible.
I've been asked why I added that forum before a health/exercise type of forum. The answer is that I only add new forums after much thought and in response to a real need. It makes no sense to add too many forums as that may impact the sense of community. A careful balance is needed. Also, hitting the proper tone with the health/exercise/fit-at-any-size type of forum is a sensitive issue that I want to get just right.
Finally, this afternoon the forum database had a hiccup that I only discovered hours later. A reboot fixed it, but it sure gave me a scare. I mean, we're talking a 300MB database with hundreds of thousands of records.
