I finally have my tattoo that I have been planning for almost a year! I love it. I am finding though, that the reaction to my new INK, is not what I had hoped for. No one else seems to "LOVE IT" - although, I suppose it really doesn't matter if anyone else likes it or not, it's what I wanted and what I spent months planning and I am very happy with it.

I spent 3 and a half hours in the chair, and the artist (Canman) was wonderful. We talked about fatness, size acceptance and big bodies vs. small bodies and pain tolerance (yes, the big folks win!)

The first comment I got from someone was "wow....there are guys in prison that don't have tattoos that big!" Followed by, "you could hang with the Biker Momma's now!" (Same person by the way!)

I think a lot of people don't really "get it". I did this to A.) get rid of an ugly angel on my shoulder and B.) to memorialize my three sweet dogs who have crossed over The Rainbow Bridge. If you don't know the story of The Rainbow Bridge, here it is:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

So, THAT is what inspired this tattoo along with a Sweet Girl named Heidi who we called Heidi-HO! My Darling Lucie, who was my "Ju-Ju Bee", and My Sweet Baby Girl Emma (Oh Em!) Who was my Embalina!

There is room on my back for more names, but I hope I won't have to add Abbie-Rose and Jolee for a LONG time!

So, let me know what you think....and if you don't love it, it's okay.....if you HATE it, it's okay. I am happy with it, I love it and THAT is what matters!
