A Night at the Opera

And I don't know what to wear. I'm going to the Metropoltian Opera. This is the fanciest dress I own is below. Is brown gauche at the opera? and if not, what type of hoseiry do you wear with a brown dress? I thought black & brown are a fashion no no. Any suggestions? Thanks y'all. I'm just a prole at heart who doesn't know these things.
