So, this year i have been very lucky. I have had friends who have helped me get to where i need to be in life, a great BF who helped more than he knows, I scored a great job, with a fantastic, and overly generous boss. Its been a pretty good year for me. So I thought, ill never be able to pay back everyone who helped me, but I wanted to do something nice, so today I adopted a family for the holidays.

I called the local community center who sets it up. I didnt want to just give money to a charity, i wanted to actually buy the presents. And they do that here, they run a toy drive for about 1,000 kids. And also do the adopt a family. I got a single mom with 2 boys ages 6+2. The center gives me her name and address, and I call her and ask what the kids want and need, i buy it and then I actually deliver it to her myself. No scams here, you know what you buy, goes where it is intended. I feel good about this, and already left a message for the mom. Im eager to shop!

The only thing i will say negative, is when I asked how much they do for the familys, the lady says she suggests $75 PER child!!! I was like wow...I do think that is quite a bit of money, and I hadnt planned on spending that much , and i think its in poor taste they put such a high number on it, and wonder how many people are scared away by that number. So looks like Ill be spending about $200 on this family.

I know not everyone is in a position to give, but if you can , do something nice. Even if its something little, like taking a package of socks to your local nursing home. The elderly often have to go without teh simplest things as well. And while I have been very blessed this year, I wish everyone could have been as well.
