If he was from Venus, would he feed us with a spoon?
If he was from Mars, wouldn't that be cool?
Standing right on campus, would he stamp us in a file?
Hangin' down in Memphis all the while
I had the pleasure of meeting him in Nashville and SXSW in Austin many years ago. He was humble and funny and it was a real highlight in my life.
Whether solo or with Big Star or even the Boxtops he was a true musical prodigy. Until that day my friend.
