There are so many reasons why I am in love with the whole Hairspay concept from the Movie, to the Broadway show, and now the new movie based on the Broadway show!

I take my hat of to John Waters, who originated the phenomenon that man basically admitted to being an FA at the Baltimore Premiere... "You can just call me Jack Spat" lol.

Most importantly because this new adaptation will attract a younger audience, and of course all the die hard Hairspray and Musical fans like myself but that's beside the point, it will subtly make this generation aware of such an important but neglected time in our history.

I don't know about in other states, but when I was in high school, keep in mind I went to a predominantly white school...catholic nonetheless , the chapters on segregation where literally skipped in our History text book. I asked my teacher why, she said she wished we could go over them but their where just more important universal topics that had to be covered... but did tell the class they should read the chapters on their own. As if anyone was going to do that.

On the contrary, when I went to middle school, there was one white student in my entire school. Black History was driven in our head everyday, since they felt it was so important for us to know where we came from.

I know that the whole concept of segregation will raise a lot of questions from children or even teens who might not really be educated about it, black and white. I really think it is something that should be taught and discussed, because it IS so important to understand how we got to where we are today as a country.

In other news, Have I mentioned how much I love that ppl are gonna see a beautiful fat girl getting the man for once in a movie, because seriously I can maybe think of two movies where that happens lol.
