In England the uninsured do not have to find somebody with money and then hire lawyers to sue the people with money in order to pay their medical bills. As best I understand it, in the English medical system treatment for the woman's injury would be paid for. In the United States, which provides the best medical care in the world, if you do not have good medical insurance, in order to pay your medical bills, first you have to find a lawyer who will find someone or something to sue to pay your medical bills, and then you have to find a way to sue in order to pay for the lawyer. So the suit for medical bills will pay the medical bills and then the suit for loss of the spousal services will pay for the lawyers that had to be hired in order to get the medical bills paid.
Of course the kid at the receiving end and his father and mother will have to hire their own lawyers in order to try to defend themselves. In England treatment would be provided, the medical bills would be covered, and there would be no need to hire any lawyers. I can understand why lawyers would want to throw a lot of money into defeating Obama care.
With the US system the doctors make more money the lawyers make more money and the uninsured have to figure out who to sue in order to pay for their medical bills.
As my brother, a lawyer, told me, "A lawyer does not worry about who is right, a lawyer tries to figure out who has money."
