So, I have wanted to get a pet of some sort since moving to Chicago and being out on my own. In a perfect world, I would get a little baby pug since I miss mine so bad. (He had to stay with my momma back in Ohio.)

I just applied for a new apartment and this place does not allow dogs or cats. I was thinking about getting a big, fat rat but decided that Chicago already has enough rats in the alleys. My next idea was a chinchilla, but the landlord says no.

I have always loved birds and had 3 parakeets growing up. A bird seems like the perfect apartment pet- It's small, cute, plenty of company, and pretty easy to care for.

I am considering a male canary, a pair of finches, or a cockatiel. Does anyone currently have any of these or have any experience with these?? Are they way too noisy? I will have 3 roommates who do not want a bird waking them up.

I've done some googling, but can't seem to find many good websites.. Does anyone have any good resources they would like to share?

I know this is incredibly out of place but I figured someone here might have some advice or information?

Thank you!

xo
