Did anyone else watch the special on asexuality on ABC? I was totally fascinated.

Apparently about 1% of the population experiences no sexual attraction/feelings whatsoever.

They still pair off and get married but it is for companionship. Some have been married for years and never had sex.

I find myself wondering why they pair off into traditional male/female pairings...maybe it is for convenience. They interviewed one woman and she said she wasn't attracted to men so she assumed she was a lesbian, but had sex wth a couple of women and decided that wasn't for her either.

Anyway they have a website at http://www.asexuality.org/home/

I was curious about the popularity of asexuality as compared to fat acceptance as they seem to have some of the same issues - people criticizing them and telling them it is not healthy, etc. Though clearly it is a lot easier to hide being asexual than it is to hide being fat, especially if one has an S.O.

Some of them were asked a question most of us have been asked - if you could take a pill and become sexual (for us it would be thin) would you do it? They all said no...

Their forum has twice as many registered users at 8k+, but far fewer active members at 7.
