Austerity politics and why it won't work

all of the cutting of services lately has me worried. no one seems to be thinking of all of the consequences, like a less well educated workforce etc... austerity did not work for Japan. i wonder why our government is so intent on it here? the American people are being asked to pay twice for what banks and wealthy investors benefited from, first though the bail out and now through severe belt tightening. will we end up any better off? probably not. i found this great video explaining why all of the cutting won't work:
