Hi Folks,
Just a bit of advance notice to let you know that the BBC are putting out a programme regarding design issues and how they affect larger peoples lives. The name of the show is 'F*** Off, I'm Fat' and its scheduled for broadcast the week starting the 28th of August.
I'm one of the contributors but (as usual with media requests) I have no idea quite how the finished programme will turn out. The Team making it were wonderful fun and really cool but it will all depend how it gets edited together I guess.
Topics covered include the fact that Theme Parks will take your money and let you in without telling you that you cant fit onto any of the rides. It also touches on the fact that some High Street chains say they make size 18 clothes but actually only put out maybe two items in a single shop. They also cover cars and how being big affects your safety and comfort. I think issues regarding design of things like toilets etc and how they are going to have to change as people grow larger are also covered. Sorry to be a bit hazy but I only really got a full briefing on the bits I was involved in (Car Design and Clothes)
I have high hopes that this is going to be a positive contribution towards the size acceptance debate (but I have my fingers crossed too!) I'll have copies of the DVD if anyone wants one after the transmission date.
Love Tracey xx
