First, let me say that I applaud Exile In Thighville's thread questioning what we do outside of these spaces to promote size acceptance.

Just as important, I would like for all of us to reflect on what we've done to promote acceptance generally, within our own group. Have you welcomed a newbie to the boards, tried to contact a person you disagreed with on the boards privately to discuss your differences before it turned into a flame war, contributed something positive to a thread that may have been of importance to another, just so they could see a different perspective?

I've seen so many people come and go over my 12+ years here. I even left for a while. Some people cant take the trolling, some the political incorrectness, some can't take the ganging up, and/ or the turf wars.

I've recognized that many of those who have left may have been active contributors to a community that will always need the contrary perspective. We need differing opinions, if only to strengthen our own convictions about how we feel about things.

I'm gonna leave you all with this. This past year has been incredibly trying for me personally. I have had to deal with some major changes in my life, and part of doing that involved forgiveness of those who hurt me in a major way. It took some work, actually it took a WHOLE lot of work on my part to do so, but it has been worth it to me. I just an average dude, but I think if I can find forgiveness for the general good, exceptional people like you can do so far easier than me.
