I'd be interested in hearing some reactions to the article in the Times today about the connection between being fat and being poor "Extra Weight, Higher Costs".

The article seems to suggest:
  • in developed countries, the higher-status people tend to be thin and the lower-status ones are fat
  • fat people are less likely to “marry up” to someone with more money or a higher education
  • people are poor because they are fat, not fat because they are poor
  • statistically, drops in weight correspond to an increase in wealth
  • fat people are less educated

Would you agree with each? Has being fat held you back financially? Why is it that fat people as a group are less well off? Why are the wealthy rarely fat?
