I spent the afternoon yesterday visiting with one of my best gal-pals. After it started getting late, we met my husband at a local Mediterranean buffet restaurant we both like for supper. My friend loves Mediterranean food too, and had never tried this place. (DiMassi's in Houston, the new location by Reliant stadium...)
Oh.
My.
Goodness!
It was so damn good!
I had tabouli, hummus and a fresh baked pita, cabbage salad, bean salad, grilled zucchini and yellow squash, stewed eggplant, tiny baby okra in a tomato sauce, chicken in a yogurt-curry sauce, chcken cooked in a tomato based sauce, and for dessert, some rice pudding with orange flower syrup in it and a little pastry called a lady's finger made with phyllo dough, ground nuts, sugar, rose and orange syrup.
I wish I could afford to eat there every single day, because I certainly would! Mediterranean food has to be my favorite, I love the flavor combinations.
I am going to make a batch of the cabbage salad and a batch of hummus this afternoon and look up a recipe for either of the chicken dishes we had last night.
