The band I'm in had a great show lined up tonight. We were headlining, and we printed our own posters and put them up all over town. It's been exactly one year since we played our first show, so it was like a birthday celebration, and it was at an all-ages venue that's calling it quits in a couple weeks. And then...it got cancelled. I guess both the opening bands are from out of town, and they didn't communicate effectively with the venue, or something.
It might not be so lame if the venue wasn't closing down. Now we'll never play there again. I hate losing venues, but I especially hate losing all-ages venues. Anyone else supporters of their local music scenes? Ever seen a well-loved venue go belly-up? Get nostalgic with me, folks.
