Pam Poovey's Stunt Double
Sorry to be a bore, but once again, the technology in my home has decided to strike and fight back. My broadband upstairs started to drop out constantly after a renovation of the room in which it is. Ok, connection started dropping after renovation, then more and finally no connection at all. So where to begin on this little journey?
Laptop: Acer Aspire3623WXCI.
Modem: Netcom NB3 ADSL modem [connected with a network cable to the Laptop].
Ok, so what I have done so far.
[x] Tried a different telephone line.
[x] Tried a different cable bewteen the Laptop and the Modem.
[x] Checked for physical damage on all components and wires.
[x] Took the Laptop and modem downstairs and hooked it up there [failed to work].
[x] Checked for spyware. Adaware and Spybot [all up to date, cleaned up. nothing serious, still not working].
[x] Cleaned out all cookies, history etc from Opera, Mozilla and IE [not that the latter is used, but still].
[x] Tried shuting down and restarting zone alarm [to make sure thats not interfering]
[x] Its not the account because my PC [which is] downstairs works fine [how I am working now].
So, any suggestions? Is the modem knackered?
