According to the article linked below, calories per serving have been going up in cook books over the past couple of generations--totaling around 40%.

Time to scour the second hand bookstores for some older editions? Then again, errm, we tend to find the serving sizes in the new editions to be on the small size already.....maybe the next edition will be a better match to my family's appetite?
