I am responsible, about once a month, for planning and executing a dinner for approximately 30-35 people. So far, I have made pretty easy stuff like taco salad, or an easy version of posole, but you guys are such creative and good cooks around here that I'm wondering if people have any other ideas for meals that have worked well when you've cooked for large groups.

A few caveats...

1) The oven the kitchen I have to use doesn't work so well. We can take stuff to other locations to put it in ovens, but that's kind of a pain. So I like using the stovetop and avoiding using the oven, if I can help it. (But the oven thing is do-able, so feel free to share ideas that require an oven too.)

2) It has to be able to be made, from start to finish, in about an hour and a half. There are about 5 other people helping - so they can help with stirring, chopping, grating, etc. And we prefer homemade food (i.e., not frozen lasagnas, etc.).

3) It can't be too expensive.

So...any ideas? Would love some ideas/recipes!!! Thanks, everybody!
