Wednesday the assistant minister the church invited me out to lunch. Since I was treating I thought that it was important that we go to a nice restaurant and so we chose the brand-new McDonalds.
The previous McDonalds on this site had been the location of my rather infamous McDonald's sit in. I was telling the assistant minister of some of my adventures and misadventures in fat activism.
When we got to the restaurant I looked with approval on the many movable armless chairs that were available. When we got ready to place our order I noticed a man wearing a white shirt, a tie, and looking authoritative. I asked if I could speak to him. He was some sort of a regional manager. I complimented him for working for a restaurant chain that had installed armless chairs in their new restaurant. I mentioned how a McDonalds does not want customers saying, I cannot fit in the seating here. Which member of your competition do you recommend I patronize? The regional manager agreed that that was not a good way to increase profitability. I mentioned another McDonalds which had no armless movable seating. He said that he was going to that McDonalds later on in the week and he would encourage them to buy a couple of armless chairs so that larger customers could be comfortable as they enjoyed the excellent McDonalds cuisine.
When I started this the assistant minister had been standing beside me. When I finish the conversation I looked for the assistant minister. He was over against the far wall.
