My daughter and I went to see a movie this afternoon. One of my favorite parts has always been the previews...but this time I saw one that I couldn't wait to end. I'm normally quite comfortable with my size, but the beginning of this trailer http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/datemovieqt.html made me want to shrink into my seat as the crowd laughed. Perhaps I was caught off-guard and was somehow more vulnerable, but...the way this fat suit was made looks much like my body type (minus the large breasts....;)) so seeing someone of that size made to look so incredibly foolish and the object of a cruel message (which I interpreted as *Fat Girls shouldn't try to date because they're disgusting*) was humiliating to me.

I consoled myself by remembering that there are wonderful men who believe otherwise...and that the people who made this movie have a history of making fun of easy targets.
