With the charges dropped against Debra Lafave, one's mind returns to the question of whether or not there is a double standard about male and female teachers having sex with students of the opposite gender.
I'm interested in what others here think. It seems that there IS a double standard in some cases, but do you think there should be?
Obviously, an underage boy cannot legally give consent. Should this be the only consideration in cases where female teachers offer themselves for a boy's sex life, or insinuate themselves into a boy's sex life? Should the standard be the same for female teachers giving "special lessons" to boys as males having sex with female students?
Most guys can speak honestly when they say that Lafave might have represented a fantasy of theirs when they were kids, but as adults, we see the ramifications of not trying to punish this kind of behavior. But I've often heard from people (I do a radio talk show), that a female teacher offering herself to a boy is quite different than a male teacher seducing a female student. Are they?
