I was lucky to grow up with parents who loved me unconditionally. I never felt "less than" for being a fat kid. But that doesn't mean they didn't try to get me to lose weight "for my own good". I was a lifetime member of the "Gloria Stevens Figure Salon" when I was 12! I followed my Dads Weight Watchers meal plan more than I care to remember and more than once I was offered incentive plans like shopping sprees and trips to CA to see my grampa.
(Never did get to see him OR spree at the mall! :( LOL)

But the thing that bugged me the most that my mom did was say things like "You're going to be just like Aunty Fern." Or "Do you want to look like Aunty Fern?"

Aunty Fern was my fathers largest sister and although I knew what my mom meant; what the "threat" was, it never worked.

And now, I'm "just like Aunty Fern".

How about you - were you warned not to be like ____________??
