I know there are A LOT of dog fans here on the boards. My wife and I are starting to consider a dog for the family. My two boys are almost 10 and 13. Almost potty trained and.......okay just kidding, they still miss the toilet by a mile...:D

We live in a small town with lots of sidewalks and walking of dogs. My wife loves dogs and knows all of the AKC breeds by sight.

French Bulldogs. We love these dogs. They are smal but strong, seem to be relaxed and of course they are really cute dogs.

Questions.

1. Am I committing a mortal doggy sin considering a puppy from a kennel? Should we look both for adoption and kennel?

2. Anybody know this breed personally or indirectly (family, friends, etc.)

3. If we look at a kennel, any way to check on their history and that they are a properly run operation?

4. What about getting two dogs versus one? Is it torturing the dog to be at home in a kennel for a couple of hours? Should two be considered for the dog's happiness? Are we overthinking it? I mean as a young family, we do not travel for weeks or jet off at a moments notice. Car trips would probably include the dog(s).

Thanks.
