Denny Doherty died today after a short illness. He was 66. Doherty was one of the members of The Mamas and the Papas, along with Cass Eliot, and John & Michelle Phillips. Michelle Phillips is now the only living band member.
I was a bit too young to enjoy their music when it was at it's height in the early to mid 60s, but I discovered them much later, and just loved the sound. It hasn't found it's equal in anything I've heard since.
