Egbert Souse
South America, probably.
I had a feeling i was in trouble when, some years ago, i went into the public library and they had gotten rid of the wonderful and massive oaken card catalogue. They had had those sissy little computer terminals for a good while and i'm sure they're fine for peeps who know what they want but i'd grab me one of those wonderful oaken drawers of cards, go sit down at a wonderful oaken Library Table and brouse until i found something wonderfully interesting. Brousing on their sissy computer screens is an exercise in futility and i haven't broused at the library in 6 or 8 years. I miss brousing. The library has lost a good bit of its wonderfulness.
Then came voice mail, which i suspect is an AT&T (now at&t) scam.
If you wanta know whether you need to answer the phone, you gotta get up and look at your caller id.
I dumped my voice mail and went out to buy an answering machine and all they got is that sissy digital shit.
How ya gonna save the good messages and call the people who left them 20 years later and leave their messages on their voice mail? (a practice of mine which never fails to amaze and delight).
Then there's the printer problems, audio recording software problems, scanner problems, cell phone problems, et al i'm saddled with of late.
Screw it.
If you need me, i'll be in 1956.

(anybody know where i can score some gage?)
