Last night, I was invited to a get together with a few ladies I know (and a few I didn't) to talk with a psychic. Im not sure what to call her really, she didn't say if she was a psychic and saw the future, if she was a medium and talked to spirits, or if she read auras... but she actually did a little bit of all three.
I've always been a skeptic when it comes to things kind of things. I've never had a paranormal experience or had anyone give me information about a future event and then see it happen. I've read about cold/hot readings and how someone can read another person just by using body language. This is how the fake psychics do it. I LOVE Derren Brown and he explains things like this so well, even gives people tips on how to "read" someone.
Anyway, I get to the house and its just the hostess and another woman, talking quite normally about their kids and jobs. I walked in and was immediately sought out by the hostess' cat. He came over, sniffed my feet and then started to rub all over me as I pet him. The hostess was astonished, saying that the cat never let's people touch him, especially strangers. I said that I probably smell like a million different animals (between work and pet-sitting... I pretty much always smell like a barn, haha).
We sat a bit longer, as everyone else was running late. Tired of waiting the hostess turned to the other woman and said "Let's get started!" They turned to me and told me I was first!
Turns out, the other woman was the psychic. I think its kind of important to keep this in mind, since I was freely giving up information during conversation with her and hostess.
We go downstairs, get comfortable and she tells me about what she does. She said if she mentions anything that I dont feel comfortable talking about, just say so and she'll move on to something else.
I dont really want to get too deep into what we talked about, but I feel like some things she mentioned could have been easily found out if one was good at hot/cold reading. Other things, she was spot on and Im not sure how she knew certain things. But again, some things seemed obvious.
I dont want to doubt her. She was very nice and pleasant. She's a nurse at the hospital, so psychic reading is something she does on the side... which makes me think she's for real since her income doesn't depend on it.
One kind of freaky part was when she was telling me that I have a connection to animals (... she saw the cat come up to me...), but as we were talking about it, the cat came downstairs and sat near us.
So I want to hear about other people's experiences. Good, bad, kind of weird and freaky. Did anything happen afterward? Do we have any psychics or mediums on the board?
