I'm sitting on the better side of a bad situation I've had with my former family doctor. I don't have the patience to type out the whole story, but to make it short...he took me off my BP meds more than a year and a half ago. When I returned with severe swelling in my feet and legs several months later, he told me to lay off the salt and lose some weight and stated, "Your weight is what's causing the swelling." I argued that I had been about the same weight for 15 years and they never swelled like that before he took me off my meds, but he acted like I was a fool and refused to refill my prescription because my BP was "just borderline" that day. Evidently I was a fool because it was only recently that I sought a second opinion about it and was put back on my meds after a year and a half of pain and swelling and no doubt high BP. My feet have hurt too badly to excercise much, but I have been eating a healthy diet and watching my salt, drinking lots of water...anything to keep the swelling under control. After almost 2 weeks back on my meds I can see the bones and muscles in my feet and ankles again and I feel incredible. It is literally a world of difference and I'm glad I finally had the sense to see someone else about it!
So I'm wondering, has anyone else had their real problem ignored by a fat-distracted doctor?
