This had a little bump in the trunk with the fatosphere about four weeks ago ;), but I forgot to post it here.

A former health writer/comedian has finished making a retort movie to Supersize me. Most concluded that he might not be completely on this side of things so to speak, but he's debunking a lot of myths that were perpetuated by Spurlock.

I learned a few new things (i.e. I knew of Ancel Keys, but I didn't know about the data dredge/mining that he did ), and I would like to see this movie. Right now he's just looking for a company to distribute it widespread.

In the movie, he retorts some myths, and goes on his own McDonalds diet. He loses weight in the process, and his "Numbers" improve too.

I will warn you though: He's pushing low carb (Looks direct too, or near direct pushing of it), which might be a sour topic for some people. His stance is one of the reasons I don't trust the thing completely, but I haven't seen it yet of course. Right now it just seems as if he has the right idea, but a poor way of executing it.

http://www.fathead-movie.com/NoBolognaFacts.htm Facts page here. Here are some of the things he lists:

-"There's never been a single study that proves saturated fat causes heart disease."

-As heart-disease rates were skyrocketing in the mid-1900s, consumption of animal fat was going down, not up. Consumption of vegetable oils, however, was going up dramatically.

- "Being fat is not, in and of itself, bad for your health. The behaviors that can make you fat - eating excess sugar and starch, not getting any exercise - can also ruin your health, and that's why being fat is associated with bad health. But it's entirely possible to be fat and healthy. It's also possible to be thin while developing Type II diabetes and heart disease."

-Despite everything you've heard about saturated fat being linked to cancer, that link is statistically weak. However, there is a strong link between sugar and cancer. In Europe, doctors tell patients, "Sugar feeds cancer."

I actually found this when I was looking for information about Glenn Gaessar's book. :p
