This was a gal who contributed much to the motivation behind DIMz' founding. In my quarter-century marriage ended by Katy's death 2 years ago... my Mom, whose mentors were Scarlett O'Hara, the Unsinkable Molly Brown, Queen Victoria and Phyllis Schlafly... would never let my SSBBW wife set foot in her house for fear that the ladies in the Bridge Club might see her. I basically haven't been down to 'The Bold New City of the South' since '99... I've been under virtual house-arrest except for occasional trips to Boston since then due to heavy caregiving for Katy(d.'06) and her Dad(d.'05) and picking up the pieces since. So, my friends, the Memorial is on the 30th! A gaggle of rightwing relatives and the surviving ladies from the Bridge Club to deal with... plus my still-in-fairly-good-shape Dad, always more hindrance than help. It's 2 hours to either airport from here, flying from paradisiac weather into a humid hellhole... First of all give me a consensus on whether to go... duty calls, I know... and then, I haven't been on a plane since '99 and I barely got thru security THEN!! What site or agency do I even go to, to get a ticket? I mean, I've been trying to get advice on this since Monday! Wotta perfect nightmare.
