Cindy's post in the Everyday Food Pics thread made me think of this subject. This time of year, I always wish for a fireplace and a nice, big, overstuffed couch, a soft blanket, a good book or movie, a nice pup at my feet, my honey by my side, and a lovely stew or soup cooking on the stove. I start to think of pumpkin pies, which is my favorite holiday pie (trite, I know).
When I'm cold, I also crave my favorite comfort foods more, too (except for the ice cream). They are:

What are your favorite seasonal and/or comfort foods?
When I'm cold, I also crave my favorite comfort foods more, too (except for the ice cream). They are:
- Meatloaf, gravy and mashed potatoes.
- Homemade vanilla pudding.
- Grilled cheese sammiches and tomato soup.
- Chicken and dumplings, or matzo ball soup.
- Hot, homemade bread right out of the oven/breadmaker, slathered with butter, and maybe some good jam or honey. Maybe not.
- Ice cream -- all kinds, but for comfort, spumoni works best, as it harkens back to my youth, when my mother waited tables at these small Italian restaurants owned by these gifted, tempermental chefs. I would go visit her some times and she would always bring me a bowl of spumoni.
- Homemade macaroni and cheese.
- Good, rich hot chocolate. Preferably with marshmallows and vanilla ice cream. :eat2:
- Bread pudding with whipped cream.
- A rich chocolate cake.
