My new girlfriend had sort of a double-surprise about her weight recently. She hadn't weighed herself in a long time (last time was when she first had her daughter, who is almost 4 now). At that time, she was around 250lbs. Since then, she's lost a little bit of her "baby belly" but also noticed her jeans were tighter in the thighs and calves - so she guessed it all evened out and she probably weighed around the same amount as back then.
One of her good friends, Melissa, came over to visit and they got on the subject of weight. (Melissa is an inch or so taller than my g/f, but has a smaller frame. She said she weighed about 210lbs. - which she carries pretty much all in her belly. She got on my scale to check and sure enough, it said 210 on the nose.) My girlfriend weighed herself next, and we were all surprised to see it read 270lbs.
She had a doctor's appointment last week though, and got weighed again, and to her amazement, the doctor's scale shows her at 310lbs.! She went over to her mom's place after that and weighed herself on her mom's good digital scale, and it said 309.
So apparently, my cheap scale at home isn't very accurate at the upper part of the dial - and my girl can now brag to Melissa that she's got her beat by a full 100lbs.!
