Any Southerners who can help me, this would be great.
So, I spent 3 weeks down in New Orleans, LA the summer of '06. Four friends and I volunteered gutting houses, cleaning up, serving food and running a distribution center. We worked with both Common Ground and the H.O.P.E. project. We want to go back down this winter break.
So, I have some questions:
1. What's the weather like in the winter? Any suggestions for clothing?
2. For those who have driven cross-country, any advice? Prepatory matters, what we should take with us, etc etc.
3. Does anyone know the best (scenic) route to LA from NJ/NY area?
Any other advice/commentary would be awesome.
