last night Eric Cantor lost the virginia republican primary big time to Dave Brat an even further right teapartier. the GOP is freaking out about what will happen to the party. heck big money democrats are freaking out about their positions too though they pretend they aren't. do you think this bodes badly for the GOP during the next election cycle? why or why not? i personally think it might be taps for the big money oligarchs of either party that have been ruling the roost comfortably and ineffectively from washington for quite some time. to his credit Mr Brat ran a very modest campaign that stuck to the point. though i totally disagree with many of his views i do have to credit him with bringing some respectability and credibility back to the tea party in ways that will probably impact the rest of washington both democrat and republican. he definitely showed that you can't count on a big campaign chest to buy votes. this is a real game changer as far as the kind of impact people thought the supreme court ruling on striking down limits on campaign contributions would actually mean. it seems like in reality rather than theory people will actually vote for folks who try hard to keep it real and don't have big money to spend. maybe real crazy but at least real
is it possible? is it true? there might just be things money just can't buy.
