I bought two boxes of L'Oreal hair color (my normal brand). *runs to get the boxes because I know you're going to want to know what colors*
Color A is 6AM, Light Amber Brown. Color B is 5MB, Medium Auburn.
I was shopping at Kroger, which doesn't carry the full spectrum of hair colors because of space constraints. It was on sale, plus, I had coupons.
I usually only vary my hair color between Lightest Golden Brown (cooler weather) and Dark Blonde (warmer weather). But several months ago I bought a box (Kroger again) marked down that was a really nice color for me. It had some red, but not too much red. Problem is, I didn't keep the box top to remember the color, and I've been trying several colors in that "family" and haven't seemed to come across the same shade.
I had tried a darker shade when my hair was shorter and didn't like it at all. But now that my hair is longer, the darker colors seem to flatter me more.
My question, after all of this rambling, is--can I successfully blend the two shades to produce a decent color, or will combining the colors produce some hideous shade? My mother has recommended combining half of the Medium Auburn with the full bottle of Light Amber Brown. Or should I use all of the Brown first and then incorporate some of the Auburn (kind of like highlighting)? Or is this a bad idea all around? (The L'Oreal website doesn't recommend it.) Any advice is appreciated.
