Alright. Friends, and others, without going into personal information, i find myself having a problem with a co-worker at work who is a newly made manager as of two months ago. She talks down to me, treats me differently than other workers, and used to manage her own bar. I felt harassed the last week i worked, and i called out sick when i wasnt one time, after three months of literally perfect attendance, not one minute late, not one day off i was supposed to work, plenty of OT at holidays. I (I was then seen waving the sign, when i called out sick. I blew off work, and lied. I made $50 that day.. more than at the Company. I handled that wrong, and i know that. Moving on.)
Personal note: Please leave any off-topic or sarcasm or personal things OUT of this thread!! Im asking for advice about this WORK situation! Even the pointings-out of how i handled the situation wrong, i outlined it in broad strokes to avoid giving out personal info. I hope we can keep it On-T. Please, and thank you, and I appreciate you. Moving on.
I have a plan about how to do my work, while she is working, with minimal/NO personal interaction, as we know what our jobs are. I feel she has more "interfered" with mine, and i, being a willing worker, get very many assignments.. at the same time im supposed to be meeting a set quota of replenishing products to a sales floor, at work! So, since she may not be there today (my OTHER manager, whom i want to share the concern with, having got their attention in a not optimal way,) I typed a letter to my upper-level managers, since I am due to work tomorrow.
A couple of points:
1) Yes, i acted inappropriately in regards to the Company, and i offer sincere apologies. Thats the kind fo thing you can "only do one time" and if they like you, you can get past it most likely, and if they dont, its grounds for termination, IIRC. Never been terminated due to that, it was what i would call a first.
2) I considered the higher-up "Harassment" and "Harassment due to hostile work environment, from store manager on down" route (as i had managers ANGRILY talking to me, questioning me as to what i was doing when i was doing my job.. they inquired as to the order of it, etc.. all at the behest of the new manager that i feel is on a "power trip" and is used to dealing with people in a bartender sort of way, where she worked and manager her own establishment before she closed it cnd came to work here.) And yes, im being more professional in addressing my concerns, im stating my personal feelings.
3) I think i have a way to get past this. And i will now edit it up to say "I feel as though i can grow with and be a valuable asset to the Company and look forward to doing so, and i hope i can maneuver around this potential roadblock to this goal on this road, and not exit the road completely." I will ALWAYS put my own style of wording in letters, it is who i am and it is what i will do. No apologies there.
Here is the letter.. please critique, offer thoughts, and if you dont want to offer thoughts or insight, please pass this over! I know some have good advice, and im interested in hearing it. I am in the wrong as much as i am in the right with a valid concern about something totally affecting work performance, and getting out of control, and i DO need to address it or i need to leave the employment of the Company, me leaving them since it is "at-will," and for personal reasons. (I can make minimum wage anywhere and i make more money waving the sign than working at the Company, if hours pick up there..) I will be spending the day dropping off this letter to two managers and making it tailored to it, and changing my spark plugs, before i return to the beach to do some photography work.
Im coming out of this with either two jobs, or one.
Thanks, - heyyou.
And now, the letter!

Dear Store Manager:
Hello. If i may have a few minutes of your time, i would like to address a few things that I feel you, on behalf of the Company, are upset with me about. i would like to address these concerns, and i ultimately hope we can move forward in the employer-employee relationship.
What i did over the weekend, blowing off work, was inappropriate. I perhaps could have handled the situation better. In hindsight, i know i could have. I can tell you, with sincerity, that my frustrations and concerns caused me to lie to the Company this one time, and I do deeply apologize, to the Company, and to Miss Jan, who had a harder day as a result of my actions. Please accept my formal, written apology to yourself, and the Company, placing it in my "Employee file" if you see fit, and i will not repeat this behavior or action. Thank you. Moving forward.
I can tell you that i value my employment, and i will do all that i can to work well and be an excellent employee. I have strengths, and weaknesses. i have a good work ethic and willingness to please, this is a strength. i have poor communication skills with those that i feel "Talk down" to me, this is a weakness. What i feel is happening is *will finish this paragraph off forum, as it contains personal information.*
I would like to take this opportunity to formally tell you that i have what is just shy of a second job. i work this second job on Friday afternoons, and Saturday "morning to late afternoon." I thank the schedule for being what it is this week, as it allows me to work both assignments i need to support myself, as i am struggling on the 16 hours a week, that number being on the low side. Al factors considered, i appreciate the set resources, including personnel hours, that K-mart has. I will wwork my 4 hours for 4 days as best I can, and be excellent about my work .I do hope my "workable plan" about Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 12pm is acceptable. I have included my phone number, if it is acceptable. I notice Ms *personal* is not here today, or i would have addressed it with her directly today, and in lieu of that, my letters to my upper level managers.
I feel as though i can grow with and be a valuable asset to the Company and look forward to doing so, and i hope i can maneuver around this potential roadblock to this goal on this road, and not exit the road completely.
Please contact me at your earliest convenience, sometime today, to let me know if we ca move forward given this concern and workable plan i have detailed in the attached letter describing it in lieu of personally telling you "in your office" due to your obligations that would prevent such a meeting, and i did this so you could be able to review it at the most convenient time, as i know you have prior duties with your time.
Thank you. I will look forward to hearing from you today.
Sincerely, - heyyou
