The boss will be attending the (Jewish) wedding of a colleague's son in LA in a couple of weeks. I Googled around and printed out some educational stuff for him about the wedding traditions and things of that nature. However, I am unclear (trying to find out for him) on an appropriate gift. One site says, "When you're shopping for Jewish wedding gifts, remember that a Jewish wedding is all about tradition, so keep in mind that your wedding present has to be truly Jewish and truly traditional."

Is this true? Or is this site just saying that in order to sell merchandise? Can you give a standard wedding gift or does the gift have to meet the above qualifications?

I know it's Yom Kippur so if I have to wait for a response, that's OK. Thanks.
