Today at my warehouse job, I was talking about holiday foods. And my coworker told me about this show she watched the other day about how to make home made marshmallows and a nice cocoa mix to put them in So I thought I would share it with all you lovely people, who love food just as much as I do. And it being that cold time of year, these make excellent little party gifts or stocking stuffers. I know people will be getting them from me, so here it is!
Marshmallows
2 egg whites
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 packets clear non flavored gelatin
Combine in a large mixer bowl, and mix together slow. Increase the speed to whip up the whites. Mix until peaks form and mixture has filled the bowl. Set aside. Line a cookie sheet with foil. Pan can be about 9"x 13". Rub butter all over the foil then coat the butter with the powdered sugar. Pour mixture out onto pan and level out. Sprinkle powdered sugar over top until coated- then cover with plastic wrap and set aside for at LEAST 24 hours. After 24 hours cut into shape of choice and enjoy in Hot Cocoa hehe!
Now for the Cocoa!
1 cup powdered milk
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup cocoa
1 teaspoon cinnamon (more or less on taste preference)
1 65% (or better) Chocolate bar, chopped well. (Lindt chocolate bars* 65%-80% cocoa)
Mix together in a bowl. Enjoy!
For individual cocoa sizes mix 2 tablespoons into 8 oz hot water. Stir... and add the marshmallows you made and OHHHHHH GOOD LORD! Delish winter fun!
ENJOY!
