Oklahoma is a young state, stuck right in the middle of the US. It was used as a dumping ground when the Native Americans were forced from the home of their ancestors and marched across the country in the "Trail of Tears." Actually there were many marches, and not just one Trail of Tears.
Outlaws hid out in Indian Territory, as it was then called. The Natives were shuttled around in the state as parts of their lands were found to be valuable and subsequently taken away from them. My state also had a strong Socialist tradition in the past.
The Western part of the state was opened for Land Runs, and the "Sooners" snuck over and staked their claims before the Land Runs. We call ourselves the "Sooner" state, and take pride in the sneaks that cheated others. As I said, I live in a strange state.
Now, we have this piece of work, Sally Kern, a State Representative, whose tirade against "homo-sexuals" (as she often pronouces the word) has made national and world news and has nearly a million hits on You Tube.

I shared the video with a very few people on Dimensions.
I don't want this to end up a Hyde Park topic. When someone agreed with her, I'm afraid I would have to drive to wherever they lived and Casey and Tina would have to show up and pull my foot out of their ass.
I'm a straight woman who is so offended by this trash I simply don't know what to do with my anger except work very hard to get this woman out of office.
If you are interested, you can go to this website: www.equalrightsproject.com and find links to media sources about Rep. Kern's statements.
If you need to laugh about it, in order to cope (many of us do) we have this:

and to realize how deep this goes:

So, if I seem moody and out of sorts lately (not that this is an unnatural state for me) this is what I'm busy with.
Think of your friends who may be from Oklahoma, and keep us and the people we love in your thoughts.
