I need some helpful hints or suggestions...
Spring Break is coming up very soon and my wife and I are taking care of her cousins, a 5 year old boy and a 7 year old boy. We are also working with a pretty tight budget.
I was just wondering if any of you could supply me with some fun ideas, activities, make-and-do, fun chores...etc... for the kids so that they may not get so very bored. I'd like indoor and outdoor suggestions....so that day-to-day can be a little different for them. I am trying to plan for this so that they don't get on our nerves and we don't get on their nerves.
Things that the 5 year old likes include: Thomas The Train (he loves to play with his train and put it together....he also likes to play with the jumbo sized legos. He loves Nick Jr.
Things that the 7 year old likes include: War games on the computer...(which my wife and I don't really want him to be playing often.) He also likes that sand game that Mango introduced in a previous thread. He picks up sticks outdoors and pretends to play wargames all of the time. (which neither my wife or I approve of.)
Their Mom and Dad are in the National Guard and they have grown up with this kinda stuff...like warlike video games, computer games that aren't for their age range. They have been playing them less and less since my wife and I have been looking after them.
They both also like going to the park and there's lots of different things to do there of course: swinging on the swings, the tire swing, monkey bars, the different slides. We also have a basketball, soccer ball, frisbee that they like to play with. Indoors they both like Nickelodeon's Spongebob Squarepants and Jimmy Neutron. They like arts and crafts also.
I am going to be writing down some ideas in a notebook.
So please give me any helpful hints or suggestions if any of you have anything to add.
Thanks.
