Hello all,
I had the privilege of being Marsha Menard's sweetie for the past 2 years. For those of you who don't know me, my name is Kwame Weusi-Puryear.
For all of you who knew Marsha, know that she was one of life's precious people. She described herself as a "goddess in training".

On Monday March 6th, Marsha succumbed to complications that were caused by an undiagnosed, fast growing cancer.

Marsha's family has arranged for her Memorial Service to be held this Saturday, March 18, 2006, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the LDS Church on 1233 Northgate Drive in Manteca. Please read the following obituary, as published in The Manteca Bulletin.

I know that we will miss her terribly and one of the best ways to honor her spirit is to not let her dreams go unfulfilled. She wanted to achieve her goals with a deep intensity and it is my deepest desire to complete that which she set out to accomplish.

During her last month with me Marsha expressed her following hopes:

*For me to achieve my full potential
*To celebrate her 30th birthday
*To demonstrate what a determined person can achieve, at any size, by walking across the country; raising money for homeless shelters. Some of you may recognize this as Fat Girl Walking.

Although I am committed to achieving all three of these goals the only one I can do on my own is the first one. Therefore, I'm asking you to help me realize her other dreams.

Marsha's 30th Birthday: April 6th, 2006
===============================

Marsha was an artist who enjoyed making fun digital collages from photographs. Please examine this sample of her work: http://homepage.mac.com/kwame/FGW/images/honunui1.jpg

To celebrate her 30th birthday I'd like to collect photos of her friends and family, of those who cared about her. I will then create a birthday collage to be viewed by all and published on the FatGirlWalking web site.
If you have a photo of you and Marsha that would be great, but if not please send a photo of yourself anyhow. You can also include birthday wishes for her if you'd like.
I hope to collect 30 or more folks for the collage.
Please e-mail the photo and birthday wishes to [email protected] by March 30th.
Also, please attach your picture to an email with the subject line: [Marsha's 30th]
This will make sure that my anti-spam filters don't destroy your email!

Fat Girl Walking and http://www.fatgirlwalking.us
=====================================

Many folks have asked me if there is anything they can do to honor Marsha's life.
Well, I've thought about it, and I think there are two things you can do:

** Contribute to fulfilling her dream of http://www.fatgirlwalking.us :

You can mail donations to fatgirlwalking.com:
http://www.fatgirlwalking.us/Donate.html

Or you could give directly to Marsha's Chosen Homeless shelters in her name:
http://www.fatgirlwalking.us/contributers.html#shelter

** Help me run her project and her website
Please let me know if you would like to share your web skills, commit to walking part of the way, or make a donation towards achieving that walk. I'm not quite sure yet what the walk will look like with me doing the walking instead of Marsha, so if you have ideas on how to organize, create, or succesfully accomplish her deepest desire, please e-mail me.
Please use the subject line [FatGirlWalking-Help].
(Again with the anti-spam!) :)

You can stay tuned for future updates by joining the FatGirlWalking yahoo group:

With deepest sadness and bereavement, Marsha, I will always remember you.

Kwame Weusi-Puryear

PS,
If you have seen this message before, forgive me!
Marsha had a wide circle of friends online and I wanted to reach all of them.
